Solar, battery and hybrid energy systems

There is no single figure that applies to every household, and we won't quote one. Solar and battery storage can help reduce the amount of electricity you purchase from the grid, but your actual savings depend on your electricity consumption, tariff, solar generation, battery usage, feed-in tariff, export limits, system size and other factors. As part of your assessment we prepare an estimate using your own usage and tariff, and we show you the assumptions behind it. Savings estimates are not guaranteed and actual results may vary.

Eligible customers may be able to receive government incentives for eligible solar and battery systems. Solar systems may be eligible for Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs), subject to the applicable eligibility requirements. Eligible battery systems may also qualify under the Australian Government's Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme, subject to product, installer, installation and other requirements. NSW customers may also be eligible for additional incentives or Virtual Power Plant (VPP) benefits depending on the applicable program. Incentive availability and value can change, and any incentive shown in a quote is subject to eligibility and the applicable rules at the time of installation.

Many standard residential installations may be completed in a day, subject to site conditions, system design, equipment availability, approvals and installation requirements. Your expected installation timeframe will be confirmed in your quotation and may depend on product availability, site conditions, approvals and network requirements.

Solar panels, inverters and batteries are supplied with the applicable manufacturer's warranty. Warranty terms vary by manufacturer and product model, and will be provided with your quotation and system documentation. Where Smile Solar provides an additional workmanship warranty, the scope and terms will be provided in writing, and it covers the matters specifically described in those written terms. Any warranties we offer are in addition to, and do not exclude or limit, rights available under the Australian Consumer Law.

In many cases, yes. If you are considering a battery in future, tell us at assessment stage — choosing a compatible hybrid inverter upfront can make a later addition simpler. Whether an existing system can be retrofitted depends on the equipment installed, its condition and the applicable requirements at the time.

Where included in your agreement, Smile Solar will coordinate the applicable grid connection or notification process with the relevant electricity distributor. Network approval requirements, export limits and connection requirements vary by location and system.

Quality systems generally require little day-to-day attention, but we recommend periodic inspection and cleaning to keep output at its expected level — more often in dusty or coastal areas. Where your system includes monitoring, it can also alert you to performance issues.

Many NSW roofs are suitable. North-facing is generally ideal, but east and west orientations can also perform well, and layouts can work around obstructions and shading. Suitability depends on your roof type, structure, available space, shading and network requirements — which is exactly what the site assessment is for.
